You probably have a lot of questions about what to expect during Interview Weekend.

We know the interview process can be stressful, but the weekend is also very exciting and fun.  We're here to help and will answer any questions you may have.  Here are a few questions that usually pop up.

What else can I see in Cooperstown?

Will my every move be reported to the admissions committee?

4

Should I bring a bedding or sleeping bag?

Should I book a hotel room?  Where will I stay?

No.  The students have no voice in the admissions process, and we are here to help you prepare for your interview.  You should feel comfortable being yourself around us, and asking us questions.  We also don't report to the professors on any of your activities or questions, and the professors don't ask us about any of them either.

Don't stress about scrutiny.  We really do just want you to hang out with us and have a good time.  We're excited to get to know you!

Nope.  We'll have you covered with bedding and towels.  You're more than welcome to bring something if you like, but it isn't necessary.

Will I be able to iron my clothes?

Yes.  Your host will provide you with an iron and an ironing board if you need one.  We all understand that traveling with nice clothes can leave them wrinkled.

Absolutely not!  We realize that we're asking a lot by having you come all the way out here.  In an effort to get you better acquainted with the students and help relieve the financial burden of sudden travel plans, we will provide you with a host student, at whose house you will stay while you're here.

Your host will provide you with food, a bed, a shower, and transportation free of charge.  You'll hear from your host very soon!

I'm nervous about the interview.  Is everyone this nervous or is it just me?

Should I bring anything to the interview?  What will they ask me?

Is Interview Weekend going to cost me money?

Everyone is probably just as nervous as you. Don't worry, it's totally natural.  Just take a few deep breaths, and know that your host will be there to help you before the interview. You're not alone!

The interview questions are different every year.  Even if you knew the questions, prepared answers always sound worse than honest ones.  Just be yourself! You can bring your portfolio if you have one, but this isn't required!

You'll have to pay for travel expenses, but once you're here we'll cover housing and food.  Since we'll be wandering the village a bit, you might want some spending money.

I don't have a lot of experience in museums.  Does that mean I'm not going to get admitted?

I have special dietary needs.  Can you accommodate that?

I have a question that you haven't answered here on the website.  How can I reach you?

Absolutely not.  We've admitted people with computer science, political science, and biology backgrounds to the program.

Yes.  Our team has worked very hard on accommodating everyone's dietary needs.  You may not be able to eat everything at every meal, but we'll make sure you have enough to eat.  Be sure to let us know!

Feel free to send any questions to

our project leaders.  We'll try to respond as quickly as we can!
